I have been having a losing battle with the snack machine since I started my new job. I go to the gym with [livejournal.com profile] texasfurr, work out a good nice workout, then go to work the next day, and the snack machine taunts me. Begging me to feed it for a fabulous prize.

I swore this week I was going to beat the machine, and not give in to it's begging and cries for attention.

As I was getting my apple juice from the fridge, it was loud as ever, and ohhhh soooo tempting to shut it up. I stood there and stared at it and all it had to offer for just a few pieces of silver. I felt my hand move towards my money pocket and started to focus on one particular item of interest.

I then just stopped, turned around, and walked away with my apple juice in hand.

I knew I could do it. I did it in 1999 when I worked at Dell in Austin, TX and lost 50 lbs in 8 months. I was looking and feeling fabulous.

My diet has been pretty good, but the damn snack machine has been my biggest downfall. But I think I can beat it everytime!

I had the same problem, it's a haunting one. Try this for a week, it worked great for me and I've managed to keep my craving for crappy food at bay.

Make your breakfast one that is high in protein and (very) complex carbs. No juice or anything that will spike your blood sugar, do the same for lunch.

Your hunger for junk food, especially sweets, will absolutely disappear.

Oh, and the juice is the worst thing to drink without other food. It spikes your blood sugar, which releases insulin, which creates hungry. Try a protein shake, whole milk (not skim), or something blood glucose neutral and you won't get hungry from drinking it.

Sorry to have gone on. This comes after several years of trial and error. This works great for me, so I thought I'd pass it along for what it's worth to ya.

Well, the downing of the apple juice is per my doctor. I was sick this past week and ended up with a major sore throat. He said to drink lots of juice. Apple is what I like best. In a couple of days, I will be off the juice, and hopefully still off the snack machines. I will try your ideas.

Thanks
