So
sflonestar and I went to see Little Shop of Horrors last night. It was a fun show, and I was amazed how close to the movie the show was. It had a few more songs, and one of the songs lyrics were completly different from the movie.
The actress who played Audrey sounded almost like Ellen Green who portrayed Audrey in the movie. Anthony Rapp was amazing, however in some parts I could hear "Rent" in my head when he was singing. Very distinctive voice.
Some people we know won the gloves he used during then show as an auction item. I went over when he claimed them and got a few photos on my cam phone. But the lighting was pretty bad.
The most annoying part of the show were the 2 bimbos in the row in front of us during the first act, talking loudly and the on kissing on her date through the show. Near the beginning of the show I leaned up to her and said "Get a Room!" She stopped kissing on him so much. But then she kept talking loudly. During the beginning of "Somewhere That's Green" where Audry was singing softly, the same girl started talking to her date again, and I shhhh'd her!
After the first act was over, the guy who won the gloves in the auction said the 4 people "Could you please refrain from talking in the next act, we would like to enjoy the show" I said, "Yes, we are here to watch the show, take your talking outside." Luckily for us, they did not come back to their seats for the 2nd act.
Ya gotta wonder why people were brought up that way. If you want to blabber, rent the movie and stay home.
Overall, the show was great! It is in its last week here in SF.
I'm really glad that the Original cast of Rent will be in the movie version of Rent.
Thanks Jim for coming on such short notice to the show with me. It was fun!!
