Absentee Ballots

So,
Forever I have thought that absentee ballots are not counted, unless a race is close and they need them to sway the decision.
I just read this on SF Gate.
"The absentee votes that arrive in Tuesday's mail or are turned in at the polls typically aren't counted until after the election. In a close contest like the one predicted in the governor's race, those uncounted ballots could delay the final result until Wednesday or later."
I for one want my vote to count on election day!

I vote absentee. It gives me more time to research the stuff. I think people who vote absentee usually research the stuff more than lots of people who just show up unprepared.
