Boy Bar: Not just for boys!
Jun. 3rd, 2006 10:59 amLast night after seeing Corpus Christie at Theatre Rhino, Sam and I headed to "The Cafe" where a new dance night was taking place called "Boy Bar" I know the name Boy Bar might scare you away, and well, the go go dancers were all smooth boys, but I was not there to see them. And they couldn't call it "Man Bar" because that kinds sounds dumb!
Name dropping:
bigreddee and FTP,
lindyboi,
boyshapedbox,
throbbin and boy,
telecommunicate,
rxdoc,
topcubsf, as well as other non-LJ'ers.
Let me just say, in the 3 years and 5 months of living in San Francisco I FINALLY had a fun night out at a dance club that was not playing country music.
djmattconsola and
expurgate were playing music with lyrics, and music that I used to spin myself when I DJ'd back in the later 80's early 90's in Upstate NY.
I didn't want it to end. It was also great seeing other bears there as well moving to the old school dance beats! The music was well received by the younger crowd, but certainly should draw in the 30 and 40 something’s. I highly recommend you give it a try if you want to enjoy some of the music that I enjoyed in 1992. There was also plenty of todays music that I did not know. It is like this party catered to anyone of any age.
Here is a list of songs that I recognized, which, had this been Sweat, Sanctuary, or about any other dance party, I probably would not have known a single song. I am sure Matt can correct the couple I am unsure of.
You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi
Le Freak - Chic
Luv 4 Luv - Robin S
S.O.S. Rihanna
Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice
Kiss - Prince
Don't Stop Till You Get Enough - Michael Jackson
Dancing Queen - Abba
Sorry - Madonna
A Nirvana song that I cannot remember the title to.
Bootylicious - Destiny's Child
Push It - Salt n' Peppa
Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson
Cum on Fell the Noise - Quiet Riot
She's Got The Look - Roxette
Glamerous Life - Sheila E
Owner of a Lonly Heart - Yes
Filthy Gorgeous - Scissor Sisters
Material Girl - Madonna
If I Could Turn Back Time - Cher
Supermodel - Ru Paul
Really, you should go next Friday night! Thanks again, Matt and Sam!!
