Cruise Day 1 and 2 (Friday/Saturday)

dhbearguyThis is the first in a series of posts about my cruise to Mexico last week. Out of respect for everyone, the meat of the posts will be behind cuts as to no clutter your viewing.

5:00pm - Was just shutting down my work computer when Will, my cabin mate from Atlanta called to tell me that his mother never mailed his birth certificate to him. It is required to get on the ship. I asked him all week if he had gotten it and he said it was in the mail. I am really anal about that kind of stuff. I was inquiring about my passport a month and a half before leaving.
We did some searching, and told his mom to overnight it on Saturday for Sunday delivery to Pembroke Pines, where there was a post office with Sunday hours.
Got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Sam walked to BART with me, which was very sweet of him. There were about 12 people I knew on the flight. The flight was about an hour late getting out of Oakland, and I was glad it was a non stop to Ft. Lauderdale. I did not get hardly any sleep however on the plane.
Saturday, 8:30am, arrived in Ft. Lauderdale. Picked up the rental car, a PT Cruiser. I never liked them, but they had plenty of leg room. My dancing friend Mario was also staying at the Motel 6 near the airport, so I offered him a ride over. We were hoping to get in there early. Check in was 3pm. ufcub took me last time I was in FTL. While there Will called and his Mom did not send it because they said the post office would not deliver it in one day, but in 2 days. We sent her back to send it anyways.
Drove to the Motel 6 with Mario in tow and could not get in! We sat in the parking lot and napped waiting for 1pm when they said they would have our rooms ready. 1pm, got our rooms and napped. I got up and went out driving to Target to shop for a few things. Then back to the hotel Picked up Mario and headed out to dinner, and then to Manhattan South for the Sundance Pre Cruise Country Dance Party. Had a good time dancing, and flirting with the local boys. Saw many more people that I know. It was a really fun time. Headed on out and got a good nights sleep!
