I firmly believe that rules were meant to be broken. While the main thing that catches my eye is a trim furry guy, that does not mean that a bigger guy cannot get my attention. There is a certain LJ user who will remain namless who I would not mind a roll around in the hay with who is very bearish. Do you consider yourself a bear or otter?
Bears often think of me as a "cub." Some younger guys, seeing the white whiskers, want me to be a "daddy." I'm possibly in some kind of transition at my age (47). That is, if you go in for labels, which I rebel against. :-)
I picked up the term "pocket bear" from someone a few years ago when I used to be on the Bears' Mailing List, and it seems to work for me. I'd love to be "trim" enough to be an "otter" but the only way I can "pass" is if I suck in my tummy all the time (which is too much work)! So "bear" it is.
