Collisions and rental cars

On November 4th I rented a car in Long Beach. I was staying one night in the area, and needed a car.

Overnight the car bumper was damaged by another car while the rental was parked. The guy actually left a note with his phone number.
I still have the note.

I rented the car for $28.00 from Priceline. I used my VISA, so since I decided to not get the Collision Damage Waiver from AVIS. I filed a claim with VISA. They paid the $300.00 to cover the damage. AVIS vs. VISA... that just makes me giggle.

I never had to do this before, but it is actually nice when the system works for you.

Sweetie - the guy who damaged the car should have paid for the bumper repair, not you (through Visa) since you were not at fault. Did he ever come forth or did Visa subrogate (collect the money) from him?

I provided the guys phone number to VISA. I have no idea what they did, I just know they said they paid the claim.

That is the number one thing that our Visa cardholders use with their cards. Collision Damage Waiver by using your card.
