The puppets are coming

It's official, Avenue Q is set to tour starting in August. My contact at SHN Group sales says they are finalizing things, but would not give me the start date of the SF run. However, as soon as he does, I will be reserving tickets. I can't wait. I think it will be a BLAST!

I saw the show in NYC, and loved it. I hope they perform it in its entirety!!!

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)

Well, if there's gonna be a crowd, then I guess I can't go.

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)

[personal profile] apparentparadox 2007-02-07 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Wherever Phil goes, there's a crowd of guys following.

LOL... what was that old fairy tale... was it the golden goose? The one where everyone in the town ended up stuck to each other in a line as they tried to pull someone off the golden goose.

not that I'm the golden goose or anything... you just reminded me of that story LOL

[identity profile] bearfuz.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
We're all destined to be stuck on you, I guess.

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahahaha... I just remember the image in the book with all the people lined up one behind the other hands on hips. What a fun party that would be (grin)

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the golden goose story is a fun one, right up there with "orgy porgy puttin in guys"... I have the lyrics right on that, right?

[identity profile] dhbearguy.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
OINK

[identity profile] kitchenbeard.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm curious why they wouldnt perform the whole thing?

(And sorry I missed last evening, got home and was out cold on the couch in record time.)

[identity profile] dhbearguy.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The Vegas show was not the full show. So hopefully, they don't follow that format.

[identity profile] smiley-kiley.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you mean "in its entirety"?

[identity profile] dhbearguy.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The Vegas show was not the full show. It was cut back to make it shorter.

[identity profile] smiley-kiley.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but that was only because Vegas audiences are one step above plant life and can't sit through a full length show. Most Bway shows are cut down for Vegas. The tour will no doubt be a carbon copy of the Bway production.

[identity profile] dhbearguy.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
WHOO HOOOO!!!!!!

By the way, how did you like Jersey Boys? I got a free ticket for tonight.

[identity profile] smiley-kiley.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen it. Believe it or not I have little desire to see it.

[identity profile] greggjim.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, the Vegas show was cut down to ninety minutes so it was without intermission. Same for Hairspray and, I wouldn't be surprised, for Phantom. People get a quick hit of "culture" (and they can tell their friends in Ratshit, Iowa they saw a B'way show)and then they want them back to gambling, drinking and eating ASAP.

[identity profile] dhbearguy.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had heard that about Vegas. Spend spend spend! :-)

[identity profile] enhydrasf.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
what's avenue Q?

[identity profile] enhydrasf.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I love puppets...sticking my hand all up in there...mmmmm

[identity profile] bearfuz.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
For you, Avenue Jew! Heh heh. (What do *you* do with a B.A. in Yiddish?)

[identity profile] enhydrasf.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.

silly bear

[identity profile] redbackfur.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Having never seen Avenue Coup, I would love to do it finally. In fact, your next post is the closest thing I've ever seen of the production....

[identity profile] sfbootdog.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
YAAAAAAAAAY!

I tried to get tickets in the lottery when I was in NY a few years ago, but no dice.

I repeat, YAAAAAAAAAAY!

[identity profile] allanh.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
OMG! I saw the show in Las Vegas, and LOVED it.

(I especially loved it as different nuclear family types started getting disgusted and walking out, leaving more room for me to stretch out and enjoyu the show...)

Randy doesn't know it yet, but he and I will DEFINITELY attend a Bear's Night Out at Avenue Q when you announce it!

You rock. :)

[identity profile] hotelbearsf.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
We all have to go to this and sing all together with the cast "The Internet is for Porn". Would that be wild or what?

[identity profile] bearfuz.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Tours don't generally leave things out (unless they're too technically hard to do, like the Act 2 magician's trick in Ragtime was, which they cut from the touring version). Fortunately the rest of the country isn't like Vegas, where the assumption is that people don't want to have to concentrate too hard for too long while away from the gaming floor. Or something like that.

I got to meet Ann Harada (the original "Christmas Eve") a couple of weeks ago, at an audition. She's delightful in person... and TINY!!!
