War March?

I thought someone for sure would have posted this was going to be happening today.

I was sitting here and heard all this noise coming from Valencia St. It was a war rally.

I went down to Market and Valecia and walked along with them till Van Ness.

Here are some photos. I HATE BUSH by the way!!

I don't get this last one. Can someone educate me.

Interesting. There was no disclaimer on the protest, or anything that gave me any indication who organized it. I guess no one on LJ knew it was happening because none of my many friends knew.

ANSWER is

an odious bunch of skankers, but they are part of and not the sum of the protest movement overall. It's a common enough tactic to write off the whole because of some of it's parts, such as the way gay pride celebrations get tarred with thier 'connections' to NAMBLA and bare assed leathermen touting it all about in front of the TV cameras.

That said, the counter is equally sad: it's hard to roust up a signifcant number of folks these days willing to protest anything, whihc is how we end up with Terry whatsername being the top item on Congress's agenda these days. You do what you can with what you have, bubba.

I agree that it's a really sad commentary when the only people who care enough and are organized enough to mount a series of protests about an issue of great importance are basically a cult. Holding your nose and going seems, well, in bad taste.

If it comes nose holding so be it; such is better by far than doing nothing, or standing on the sidelines busily picking nits. Who claims to be sponsering these things is less than relevant if they don't get their ill deserved kudos, je? And in all of the mainstream coverage of the protests I attended before the war, and from what I've seen of these now, there's nary a blip about ANSWER or their egregious views making the cut- what goes out is 'many people protest the war.'

And that, sir, is good enough for my book.

Let me again say. I had NO idea who organized the protest march. So please don't condem me for participating in it. All I saw was a lot of people protesting for reasons I agree with. That does not mean I support any cult!
